Moseley Creative Forum is meeting on Thursday 6th December 2007, 19:30 - 21:00
This is a public meeting and anyone may attend, you do not have to be a member of the Creative Forum.

The future for Moseley’s designer makers - local or global?

Join us for a panel-led discussion on how designer makers can reach both local and international markets... real or virtual, which is the right marketplace for you?

We will explore the challenges and opportunities facing today’s designer makers:

  • How can you raise your profile and increase sales?
  • What new collaborations and connections do you need to make?
  • Which are the best avenues to promote your work - exhibitions, gift and craft fairs, street markets, networks, the internet?

There will be a short update on future opportunities; the Made in Moseley designer makers’ website and the Exchange Project. The chair is Steve Harding, Moseley Community Development Trust chairman, and the panel will be:

Annette Naudin - MA Media Enterprise Course Director at Birmingham City University. Annette will give an overview of some of the key issues for designer makers in Moseley.

Melanie Tomlinson - is an automata maker and illustrator who accesses both UK-wide and international markets through gift and contemporary craft fairs alongside solo and touring exhibitions. Mel also runs workshops and teaches.

Kerry Thomas - has experience of developing local networks and in particular using the internet for marketing and events. Her magazines, Blink and Fused, feature interiors, fashion, music and art. She has good knowledge of using networks to promote products.

Where is it?

The meeting is at Moseley Community Development Trust, The Post Office Building, 149-153, Alcester Road, Moseley, Birmingham, B13 8JP
